The Code

The “Code” is being set up so that the maximum amount of fun can be had. In the words of Captain Barbossa, “And secondly, you must be a pirate for the pirate's code to apply …. And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”

All communications will be held through the Forums.

Each night there will be an administrator in charge of those weeks’ games. It will be this person's job to keep the evening running as smoothly as possible. The Administrator will be from the Upper Echelon. The administrator for the evening will have complete control over what is played, and who is on what teams. The goal here is to keep teams as evenly balanced as possible.

HOW TO REQUEST GAMES:

  • Each Friday a new thread in the Forums will be started asking for your requests for games for the following league night. The thread will be locked on the morning of game play. This is the place to make your requests heard! If you have a cool map that you downloaded or created, or a new game type, let us know in the post, and we will list you next to the game type, and you will be given party-leader for that game.

DETERMINING TEAMS:

  • Each evening will start with a few FFA games to warm up, then a game of standard FFA Slayer. This will be used to help us determine the initial teams. Then we will play a game of team slayer to double check if the teams need a tweak or two.

  • If any team game ends with a 10-6 spread (i.e.: 25 to 15 score, 50 to 30 score), the teams will be modified to create a fair balance. The loosing team has the option of saying that they don't want to change.

  • If a team wins 3 games in a row, unless the games are within a couple point spread, the teams will be modified to create a fair balance. The loosing team has the option of saying that they don't want to change.

USING THE SAME SYSTEM/DISPLAY:

  • Guests of an Xbox Live account member must be on a team with at least one of the members with a headset when sharing a display for coordination sake.

  • Xbox Live members on the same display can be on different teams. It is too difficult to juggle this on game nights.

  • If the same screen is being used for Elimination game types you should not toggle to living players. This is cheating. Just have fun watching the other person you are with play.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

  • First come, first serve at 7:30 PM for League Member’s. As Member’s leave during the course of the voyage, additional invites will be sent. If the ship’s compliment is full due to a “guest” being present, the “guest” will be asked to leave in lieu of Official Member’s of the CHP’s League. Friends are more than welcome to join our ranks. The more the merrier. If your friend starts playing on a regular basis, we ask that they join the Forums, that way they can keep informed of what is coming up, and let us know what they are thinking.

  • Please do not just "walk the plank" in the middle of the game. We understand that you may have to quickly leave sometimes. If you do have to leave, please either try to

    • Wait until the game is over, then let us all know you are leaving.

    • Let someone know you are leaving, and leave.

    • Please try to be sure someone has acknowledged your leaving.

This will keep us from wondering what happened to you, and waiting for you to rejoin, thinking you simply got "thrown overboard" (aka: network drop).

  • When coming on to League Night you are COMMITTING to staying aboard until 10PM (Central Time). It is understood that everyone cannot be on promptly at the starting time of 7:30 PM (Central) every night (please try to be on at 7:30 PM though), but when you do come aboard it will be expected that you stay on the ship until 10PM.

It is already made difficult to determine teams due to shipmates being tardy; but this is made even more difficult when shipmates are leaving at random times. It is understood that if something vital comes up you must go, but consistent leaving prior to 10PM will be considered mutiny and that sailor will be asked to walk the plank.

This is a LEAGUE and just like any league you do not leave:

    • In the 5th inning of a softball league

    • In the 7th frame of a bowling league

    • At halftime of a basketball league

    • With 3 balls left to shoot in a pool league

    • At the 16th hole of a golf league

    • With 3 minutes left of game at soccer league

This is a one night of week COMMITMENT. There are Halo Clans/Major League Gaming Teams out there, that if you don’t make 3 of 5 of their scheduled nights they will kick you out. If you don’t feel like you can COMMIT to “the code”; please resign from the League.

  • Communication is key to team play. Keep your team informed of important developments such as strategy; the enemies’ location, etc…TALK!

  • There are younger members in our League and some members have children that may be present, because of this language should be kept to a PG-13 level. Yes, adults (and youth) do swear. Let us try to keep it clean.

Surprise competitions will be posted to the group now again. IE: Most splatters in an evening, team with the most wins for the evening, extra gaming times/events or something similar. The winner(s) of those will get to choose some special games the following League Night. We may even plan some fun tournaments.

Discussions are encouraged on the Forums. If you like something let everyone know. If you see a problem, let everyone know. We are a League, and we are here for all of us to have fun.
